Symptoms of Anxiety in Teens
- Irritability, mood swings, or anger (anxiety in teens can easily look “behavioral”)
- Consistent or excessive worry
- Complaints of physical problems such as headaches, stomachaches, or tiredness with no physical cause
- Problems sleeping: falling asleep, staying asleep, etc.
- Continually seeking the approval of adults
- Difficulty concentrating or lack of motivation
- Avoidance of social activities or withdrawal from friends
- Not wanting to go to school, fears associated with school
- Complaints of physical symptoms prior to school
- Inability to stop the worry despite reassurance
- Experimentation with alcohol or drugs
